Noticing Seeing

Sunrise Briefing:

The need to “get or grasp” anything can itself be the very grasping that obscures it.

The more I look for an insight into the nature of anything, the more my vision is blocked. Sometimes, looking becomes stiff and rigid, blocking realization. The desire to know is grasping at knowledge. This obscures what is already in the world.

Sunrise Briefing:

Sometimes the cleanest glimpse comes when you stop trying to produce a special state and instead notice that hearing, breathing, pressure, seeing, and knowing are already occurring without a manager.

It is easy to see the breath as a process without a manager, but hard to see how hearing, seeing, sensation, and knowing occur without being managed by... Who would this manager be? There are two ways into this; one is to look for the manager. This is the Mindfulness Way. The other way is to look at the process of seeing and notice that it is already occurring without a manager. This second method isn't taught much.
